While corporate donations is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways of supporting charities and non-profit organisations, research has consistently shown that there are also considerable benefits for employers who promote Workplace Giving.

- Company reputation. By engaging in corporate donations and encouraging workplace giving, The Australian Charities Fund (ACF) says that businesses effectively build their reputation as being good corporate citizens and leader. In fact, this was also reinforced by researchers at Curtin University, who found that corporate social responsibility and workplace donations significantly enhanced the reputation of a business amongst its competitors.

- Increases staff morale and loyalty. According to ACF, a major benefit of corporation donations is the effect philanthropic involvement had on staff morale. Workplace Giving donation programs strengthened employee recruitment, loyalty and retention levels.

- Low administration costs. In the Centre for Social Impact (CSI) report, The Giving Business, 84% of employers surveyed had not considered implementing a payroll donations program because they thought it was too complex to set up. However, workplace donations through payroll giving are the least resource intensive for both charities and employers, as administration costs are significantly reduced. It is also very easy to set up, contrary to widespread belief.

- Community participation. Seventy-one percent of employers surveyed by CSI believed that workplace donations were a great way for employees to engage with the community and make a difference. Non-profit organisations like The Smith Family have partnered with companies and businesses to help disadvantaged Australian children reach their potential through education for more than 85 years. Workplace donations offer an effective way to contribute directly into, and to build capacity, within the local community.
