Lets face facts we all have character that we love but in the long run there are some real stand outs.
1. Chewbacca.
Who does not love him? This big pile of walking carpet had us all captivated with him when we first saw him in the cantina in Star Wars (I can’t call it a New Hope). Why did we love him so much? Simple because he is not a monkey, he is a dog. Loving affectionate and loyal. He is the type of person we would all want by our side if we were in trouble or just wanted a hug.
2. Wedge Antillies.
Wedge may not have had a big part in the Star Wars movies but he was one of the most outstanding. From the first time he showed up in Star Wars through to when he blew up the second Death Star we were all cheering and hoping that he would survive. What made him so special was that fact he was a top notch pilot that didn’t need the force to be good.
3. C3PO.
A lot of people had trouble with C3PO but I personally like him. He may be a bit of a coward but he always came trough and did what was needed of him. Look at how brave he was marching up to Jabba’s Palace. Not many people would do that knowing that they may never come back. Plus if you watch closely he has some of the best lines in the movies.
4. Admiral Ackbar.
Why we never get to see a lot of Ackbar he is one of the best character in the whole Star Wars franchise. He is so striking with his big head an webbed hands. Plus he is in control of one of the best ships in the whole Rebel fleet. This guy just rocks.
5. Han Solo.
When we were growing up we all wanted to be Han Solo. I know that Luke Skywalker may be the one with the Force, but it was Han that was a lot cooler. He didn’t whinge like Luke or get over sentimental. He just got the job done. Hans shooting of Greedo was one of the best scenes in Star Wars, it a pity Lucas had to play around with it. Plus Han has the best travelling companion ever seen, Chewbacca
6. Princess Lea Organa.
Yes she was beautiful from the start and all the boys loved her. However she was not only beautiful but she was also smart, determined and brave . She wasn’t just going to sit back and be helpless. She told it how it was and wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. As for the slave girl outfit, let’s leave that to another time
7. Darth Vader.
The beauty about Darth Vader when we first saw him was that he was a bad guy. There were no explanations, he was just bad, and that was enough. And he was so good at being bad. The black outfit, the great voice of James Earl Jones and David Prowse’s great stature and acting created one of the most fearsome characters I had ever seen.
So that’s my list of top characters from Star Wars. You may notice that I haven’t talked about anyone from the second trilogy. That’s not because I don’t like them, it just that I want to focus on the first three movies. If you have any suggestion on other characters I will gladly listen.
