The Facebook Connection
There is a lot to be said about the fame and success of Facebook over all other social networking sites, but to actually have so many mobile devices that are dedicated to it is like a monument to its success. Meet the Nokia N97 Mini, an excellent smart phone with all the features you would want and flavored with a very special Facebook connectivity option.
Mobile phones have been a primary method of accessing personal profiles on the internet; with the introduction of WiFi and HSDPA technology, going online with mobile devices has become a standard. Nokia’s new mobile phone takes this one step further by developing special applications that cater to updating your Facebook.
Lifecasting is the New Blog
There is no sense hiding it, the Lifecast option from this mobile phone is simply magnificent. You can easily update your Facebook status almost anywhere, and anytime. The inclusion of A-GPS technology also means it may even update your ‘location’ status on Facebook as well. Now, you may ask, is this a really good thing? After all, a constant broadcast of your current location brings about paranoia with the whole big brother concept and nobody wants that. Fortunately, there is little to fear from this auto-updating feature. You can control who sees information on your Facebook account, this means that the information is not readily available on public domain. Second, GPS technology is present on many existing devices and they have not been proven to be something you should be wary of.
What you should be wary of is if you have no idea what Facebook is and what the fuss is all about. After all, you might be wondering, what about the mobile phone? Well, simply put, if you have seen other smart phone with a touch screen display and a slide out QWERTY keyboard (and we all know how many of those are out there), then the Nokia N97 Mini is hardly anything new to you. But if this is the first time you have heard of this device, then read on to find out a little more about Nokia’s Facebook Phone.
The Mini is also a Meanie
The original N97 was a pretty good mobile phone and it packed quite a punch, but just because it got smaller does not mean it turned lite. You get a 5 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash, 8GB of expandable storage capacity, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2 inch touch screen display, GPS, excellent battery life and the aforementioned Lifecasting capability. It is quite an improvement over the predecessor too. While the Mini does follow a similar tilt design with the original, most of the features of the Mini are quite different; though the familiar Symbian based OS is a familiar sight to see –always a plus in terms of user interface.
Nokia is showing good strength in design and functionality with this mobile phone. Hopefully this trend will be maintained with their other new releases as well. This mobile device may be specialized for users with Facebook accounts, but instead of being a novelty, this is still an excellent phone with very useful features.
