That way if the doors and windows are opened, you know someone went out heading to the pool. Third, build a fence around your pool. Make sure it is high enough so that kids could not climb on it or the spaces should be narrow so that no small child can get pass it.

2. Never leave your kids unsupervised. If they want to swim or play around the pool, don't leave them alone. According to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, a child can drown quickly as you take time to answer the phone. Therefore, if you keep an eye on them, you can save in time before accidents happen.

3. Instruct your kids not to run around the pool. They should also avoid at all times, activities that involve pushing or wrestling. This could lead them to slip and second, they may accidentally fall into the water.

4. Learn how to perform CPR. If things go really bad, at least you know how to perform first aid without further injuring the victim. This is not only applicable for all kids but it is for all ages. Every second after the drowning incident happened counts. So before help arrives, at least you have done resuscitative measure increasing the chances of survival.

5. Watch your kids and don't encourage, lest even allow them to drink near the pool. Alcohol is one of the causes of drowning. So keep an eye on your teenagers.

6. Put signs around the pool. Information like how deep or shallow the pool is should be disclosed.
