Is your dog an angel while you are home, and a screaming devil while you are away? The number one reason dogs bark when they are left home alone is dog separation anxiety. Your dog thinks that you have abandoned them, and that you are never going to come back. Your dog is trying to call you back home to rescue it.

Typically, they start out by whining, but as their anxiety increases, the whining turns into frequent barking. These aren't your normal barks, these are high pitched panicked barks that can be very loud and very annoying.

The barking can carry on for hours at a time. When a dog barks due to separation anxiety, the barking causes the dog to become even more stressed out and frantic, which in turn causes more barking. Each time the dog is left alone to bark, this cycle repeats itself until it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. The longer you wait to take action, the more conditioned your dog will be to barking when they are left alone, and the harder the cycle is to break.

Many people don't even know their dog is barking until someone complains to them because the dog never barks excessively when they are home. If you live in a condominium or apartment, you have a big problem that needs to be solved quickly. Many apartment managers and city ordinance officers count dog separation anxiety barking as one of their most common complaints.

One of the hardest parts of your dog barking constantly while you away is that you can't be there to correct your dog, so typical obedience training doesn't work. The best way to solve your dogs separation anxiety barking problem is through behavior modification. Behavior modification can be used to reduce and eliminate the anxiety your dog feels while you are away.

Unless you do something quickly about your dogs separation anxiety, it can develop into a expensive, serious, destructive problem. To see a complete list of dog separation anxiety symptoms, visit http://www.dogseparationanxietyhelp.com
