Twitter For Business

With the uk deep in recession it behoves every company to come up with innovative ways to get more leads , customers and sales. So its surprising to me that only 5% of UK Businesses according to the latest UK GOV survey use social media marketing.
Of those 5% only 2% are using twitter. Surprising because out of that incredibly small number at least one company netted over £2 million in sales directly attributable to twitter activity.
So why aren’t businesses using Social media and in particulate twitter.
The remarkable revolutionary or evolutionary development in marketing is that the Tools are now free. Web 2.0 for the most part uses free tools .This is one of its greatest assets and bizarrely downfalls because everyone in business assumes free=no-good. How can you possibly get value from something that’s free we all know you ‘don’t get nothing for free’ but nothing couldn’t be further from the truth there is a price to pay and that is in the time value required to understand and utilise these tools.

Twitter is by far the front runner here and this is its secret.
It will allow any company to instantly do market research, get customer feedback connect with new prospects, spy on your competition and develop incredible buzz and interest about your companies products or services. Pretty hefty claims from a free tool but its true all this is possible and more.
Ask yourself or your marketing dept head how much is it going to cost in both time and money for your next market research project, your next product launch, or marketing campaign. Then look at the value and results you could get just by using twitter.
In order to not just compete but to survive in today’s business environment you better get your company in the thick and thin of web 2.0 media .
