For many entrepreneurs building a home-based business for the first time, the concepts behind prospecting might be grossly misunderstood. Many sponsors do not fully prepare their new business partners for this activity, which might result in rejection, upset and may even lead to partners quitting their business before they have really got started.
Cast your mind back to the time when you began in your Multi-level Marketing company. You probably made a list of names and began systematically calling them one at a time to describe your business, only to be rejected over and over again by close friends and family who thought that you had started a colt or become involved in some kind of illegal pyramid! Does this sound familiar to you?
There are at least a couple of good explanations for this. Firstly, a proportion of the names on your names list may be happy with the life they currently have, or might not be concerned enough to forego the time and energy to achieve more. Secondly, some names on your list will feel the necessity to discourage your passion for success so that they are not made to feel inferior! Not everyone will do this intentionally, but it is part of human instinct to associate with people who are like you, so your drive to develop and excel could make people around you feel uncomfortable.
So what is the best way forward? The route to success in your warm market may be to develop a low-pressure pre-approach strategy that you are comfortable using with ALL the people on your list. You shouldn't expect a positive outcome from everyone, so you might be willing to approach a large amount of people, giving them all an easy way out if they dont want to hear about an opportunity.
Through experimentation I have concluded that it is also better to approach with information about the Multi-level Marketing industry, rather than the company. Once your contacts are comfortable with Multi-level Marketing then you can offer to share details on your organisation and business. The last thing you want to cause is to isolate friends who feel uncomfortable with your persistence.
So, what are the basics behind prospecting on the Internet? Well the basis is the same. You should set a goal to bring a significant amount of individuals into your prospecting funnel and present information that is relevant to them. The big benefit of a well-structured online campaign is that your followers will actually want to be a prospect by requesting information from you!
Remember, Multi-level Marketing is described as being a numbers game, so use an effective system and concentrate on sifting and sorting through a large number of contacts to identify the red hot prospects. Think of this as being like panning for gold!
