Headaches an often become unbearable, and if you suffer from frequent and long lasting tension headaches or migraine headaches, you may have condition known as TMJ disorder. Jaw Joint Pain, TMJ or Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), can be severe enough to limit the foods you can eat, decrease the amount you can open your mouth and interfere with daily activities. It can also be painful enough to interfere with your work and concentration. Common symptoms of TMJ syndrome are headaches, jaw, ear or facial pain and even decreased hearing. Clicking or popping of the jaw, neck and shoulder pain are all frequent effects of TMJ disorder.

TMJ syndrome or Temporomandibular disorder occurs when the jaw is misaligned. Interferences in the structure of individual teeth may force displacement of the lower jaw, leading the muscles to position the joints out of their sockets to force the upper and lower teeth to fit together. Fortunately there is a headache cure caused by TMJ syndrome that will remove the symptoms permanently. The TMJ treatment procedure involves patients having a bite assessment, identifying their ideal bite and achieving the ideal bite with Orthotic Therapy. Orthotic therapy may require patients to wear unobtrusive oral TMJ splint during the day and at evenings. The TMJ splint is designed to imitate your natural teeth and will not obstruct with functionality.

TMJ treatments are usually very simple, but can take multiple dental visits. They typically involve an overall review of your jaw muscles, joints and a home care management program. Every person responds differently to TMJ treatment, however the vast majority will experience an improvement in their TMJ symptoms. If you want to get rid of those unbearable tension headaches or more server migraines, then it is worth talking to your dentist about a treatment plan for you.
