Often, when first told by a doctor that they have experienced an anxiety and panic attack, the general reaction is “Oh my, thank god it wasn’t a heart attack, I’ll just deal with it.”
Understanding the symptoms and root causes is paramount to finding a permanent solution. They can be terribly frightening to anyone who has ever experienced one and can occur at some rather bizarre times and places.
Panic and anxiety attacks are often mistaken for a heart attack or a warning sign of some greater health problems and despite this many individuals who suffer from this ailment will not seek help due to its embarrassing and debilitating nature.

Solutions for panic and anxiety attacks: It is very important to understand that a panic and anxiety attack can not cause you any real physical damage. They are not a sign of mental illness or the precursor to some greater health problems. They are an instinctive response to a perceived threat or danger that you are unable to get away from. An instinctive response you yourself may have sub-consciously trained yourself for (as in the car example).

Diet, quantity of sleep, stress, dehydration and lifestyle choices all play major roles in contributing to panic and anxiety attacks. Since you may have trained yourself to have them, you can certainly train yourself to not have them.

Some common locations for panic and anxiety attacks:
1. At night while Sleeping
2. In the workplace
3. Social gatherings
4. Crowded areas
5. Airplanes

IN THE CAR
This is just one example of possible root causes.
It may seem strange to have an attack shortly after entering a vehicle but it is a common location for those who suffer them. Again, understanding root causes is key to getting rid of them. Consider this: if you are not particularly fond of your job or you just down right hate it but you get in your car every morning and drive to work then your mind and body begin to associate the car with negative feelings. This conscious or sub-conscious disdain for the work place may begin to manifest itself in the form of panic and anxiety attacks. Over time, these attacks may become associated with not just your car, but any car.

You should not withdraw from the world because you suffer from panic and anxiety attacks, embrace it and overcome it. Understand and learn the basic mental triggers that cause this problem and get the tools to defeat it. Share your experiences with others and be proactive. Sometimes all it takes is getting more sleep or drinking more water everyday to eliminate or reduce them.
