Obama's Government is working hard to get involve as many people as it can in getting college degrees. In this way, individuals can prove more beneficial not only to economy but towards their families as well. A college degree can be helpful for an individual in getting a more paid job which in turn would boost his status and financial circumstances.

One of the groups getting much attention in this regard is that of single mothers. In the past that group was not included in federal programs due to thinking that they just can't bare the financial expenses required to meet the education. Understanding this situation, the Pell Grant was made to increase over $5,000.

Most of the times, students avoid to take loans as they need to be paid back sooner or later. Students feel it very difficult to pay back these loans along with the other liabilities of the life after graduation. But now there are number of different ways offered by government that need not include loans to pay for education as:

1. Pell grants target the individuals that receive low incomes and these grants are awarded on the need base. Single mom usually falls into this category and can receive a handsome amount of $5,350.

2. National Smart grant is awarded to the students of Science and Mathematics. This program is sponsored by the National Science & Mathematics Association and open to the students of third and fourth years.

3. If anyone is planning to become an educator, then TEACH (Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education) Grants can award up to $4,000 per annum.

4. FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant) aims at providing funds to individuals belonging to the lowest income category which can add $100 to $4,000 annually through school.

5. Funds from the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) can also be received if an individual graduated after year 2005. This program tends to pay $750 during first year of study and another $1,300 for second year.

We must be grateful to the efforts of the new administration. By applying for one of these five programs, one does not need to wait to go after one's goals and dreams. There are number of other opportunities as well.

I know how hard it is to go back to school so I did some research for you.
