If you are ready to lose the extra weight that you have been carrying around for some time then one way to do that is to increase your consumption of fat fighting foods that aid the body in its ability to burn fat. The organ that metabolizes fat in the body is the liver. If you eat foods that improve the functioning of the liver then this in turn helps the body in fighting fat which can lead to a more svelte looking you! There are a number of foods that can help to increase the body's ability to fight fat. Here we look at some of the most popular ones in no special order.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a complex carbohydrate of the good variety that is digested slowly. Two of its other important functions is it makes a person feel full and it maintains blood sugar levels. Plain oatmeal has no extra sugar in it and it can help to reduce cravings for foods that are high in fat. In order to give oatmeal a little more pep when you eat it, add a little bit of cinnamon and some chopped nuts.

Olives/ Olive Oil

More fat fighting foods include both olives and olive oil and are made up of healthy fats known as monounsaturated fats or H.D.L. When consumed you will feel full for a longer period of time and are not as likely to crave foods that are bad for you. In the same way, olives and the accompanying oil are helpful when it comes to reducing high blood pressure.

Garlic and Onions

If you can get past the smell then these two fat fighting foods will prove to be an unstoppable fat burning team! They both are made up of phytochemicals that go to work immediately to break down fat in the body. They also help to fight the build up of cholesterol. Garlic and onions can also fight off many types of bacteria, fungi and viruses. And always remember that consuming plenty of food higher on the food pyramid is usually best for safe and balanced weightloss.
