Sony is one of the many brands of electronic manufacturer that became popular because of their technologies. Some of the most notable products that Sony released are their television sets. In 1968 Sony introduced the Trinitron brand name of television sets. Although it wasn't very impressive, it did opened up a new market for Sony to create new lines of television sets. One of the most recent release that Sony made for home entertainment is the Sony BRAVIA.

Sony's BRAVIA
BRAVIA is a Sony brand used to market its high-definition LCD televisions, projection TVs and front projectors, along with its home cinema range under the sub-brand BRAVIA Theatre. All new Sony high-definition flat-panel LCD televisions in North America now carry the BRAVIA logo. The name BRAVIA replaces the "LCD WEGA" brand name which Sony used for their LCD TVs until Summer 2005 (early promotional photos exist of the first BRAVIA TVs still bearing the WEGA name).

So where did that name come from? Many have, including those from free ads philippines sites, have asked what BRAVIA stand for. The BRAVIA name is an acronym of "Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture". A very ingenious name said by many critics whom found the brand very enticing.

Features
Like other high definition television lines the various BRAVIA models differ in capability as well as screen size. Display capability depends on which high definition outputs are supported, and the input signal supplied to the television. BRAVIA televisions can display video from a variety of sources. The quality of the picture depends on the quality of the input.

The HDMI input delivers the highest quality signal to the television and produces the highest quality high definition television picture, to the limits of the capabilities of the television. A VGA style computer connection is available, however, according to several electronics philippines enthusiasts, the resolution of the video signal received from a computer may be limited to resolutions below the capability of the television depending on the capabilities of the computer's graphics processor.

Sony has also an environmentally friendly line of BRAIVA HDTVs, the VE5 series. These LCDs use the new HCFL (Hot Cathode Fluorescent Light) backlights, promising up to 60% lower power consumption compared to the Energy Star 3.0 rating. According to electronics philippines reviewers, the VE5 series also have a built-in presence sensor, which turns off the television, but leaves the speakers on, when nobody is in the room for a certain amount of time that is set by the user, and turns it back on when a person enters room.
