First, you and your fiancé will need to bring your passports or photo IDs along with your original birth certificates. If one or both of you have been widowed or divorced, you will need to present your former spouse’s death certificate or the original copy of your divorce decree, whichever is applicable. Additionally, both of you will need to get a blood test within ten days of your Puerto Rico wedding date from a certified lab either in the United States or in Puerto Rico.

You may also obtain a marriage certificate in advance from Puerto Rico’s Department of Health. Another requirement for weddings Puerto Rico is that both your blood test and marriage certificate should be signed and certified by a doctor in Puerto Rico. Then, you need to go to the Demographic Registry to get your marriage license and pay US$30 for the license stamps and US$2 for a certified copy of your marriage license, which you can expect to obtain within 10 days of your wedding date.

If all those requirements are giving you second thoughts, you will be relieved to know that weddings in Puerto Rico is very popular so much so that many resorts and hotels here are very experienced in wedding preparations. They can surely help you prepare for your wedding from start to finish.
