Is your kitchen tiles are getting very old? Are they still in fine shape? You can paint those tiles and you can provide a better look to your kitchen.

You have to clean the floor of your kitchen and then sand. For sanding the kitchen floor you can hire a sander. This will make the job quite simple. Then wipe and dry the floor. For cleaning the sand particles use a vacuum cleaner or a sweeper.

To avoid the paints getting on them, apply masking tape on the baseboard and the kick board which is under the cabinets. Slice the large sea sponge into three pieces. Starting from the darker shade of your chosen color, apply it. Allow it to dry. It will take up to one hour for drying. Then do the same with the medium shade of sea sponge. Let it dry. Lastly do it with the lightest shade. You have to keep on moving the sponge around to overcome obtaining the same pattern. After you finish it with the third sponge, it seems better than before if it is entirely random.

If you need to, cut off minor pieces of the sponge to reach into smaller places light next to the wall and beside the cabinets.

Let this dried out all night, and make an effort to stay off of it if possible. On the next day, apply a coat of polyurethane using an extension on the paint roller handle and rolling the poly onto the floor in even layers. If you feel it is going on to heavily, you will have to paint with a brush. Examine on the painting tin for the manufacturers suggestion for the drying time. At least you have to wait for a hour and after that apply a second coat. This should be sufficient.

There is also another option for sponge painting, which is spatter painting. But spatter painting is having lot of annoys. You would require covering up all with plastic to ensure none spattered on the walls or cabinets. To sprinkle the paint, you make use of an old stiff brush. Plunge the brush in the paint, dabbing most of it off onto an old rag. Then hold the brush using an old butter knife that will be at a 90 degree angle to the floor. Start brushing downward with the knife so that the paint will spatter in a random pattern. You would repeat this with all three colors.

There is also other choices exists. But it is time consuming. By using painters tape carefully evaluate and tape off as if for grout, all over the floor, and paint in between the tape. Then take away the tape and place a bit of painters tape along both sides of the "grout line" and paint this a solid matching color. The outcome will be of tiles. Let the floor to dry for minimum of 24 hours. If possible extend the drying time, before walking on the floor. This will last for a long time.
