One of the problems that you would be facing if you would be moving to a far away state or to another country is the transportation of your car. True, you can just drive it to where you are going. However, this could prove to be impossible if you need to move your vehicle across bodies of water. This is where shippers come in.

Getting the services of an auto shipper is as easy as looking up your phoned directory or searching the web for contact numbers of shippers who have been in the business for quite sometime. What happens next, however, may not be as easy.

Having your vehicle shipped works in a much more complicated way than having your books and clothes shipped. However, just like with any other shipping, keep in mind that the arrival date your service provider would be giving you is just an estimate. There are several factors that could cause a delay in the arrival of your vehicle one of which is the weather condition. This does not mean, however, that you can just come anytime you feel like it. You have to coordinate with your shipper so that you can show up at the designated drop-off point on time.

Make sure you take pictures of our car before you turn them over to the auto shipping provider. Do not be afraid to ask for an inspection report. Have them spell out any damage or scratches that your car has prior to shipping. As soon as your car has arrived, check whether it has incurred any additional damage or scratches. This is where the report and the pictures would come in hand. Coordinate with the shippers if there is any damage. More often than not, these shippers would shoulder the cost of the repairs.

If you can, go for the door-to-door shipping method. Although the auto shippers may not literally drop off your car in your front lawn, they could try to get as close as possible. You can them meet them up at the drop off point and retrieve your car.

Although you might be a rookie when it comes to dealing with automobile shipping companies, knowing what to do can help you communicate with them in a more understandable manner. With the above tips in your mind, you are sure to do no wrong.
