Can you believe that in an average lifetime, which generally means substantially more than the old adage of 3 score years and 10, as living standards force live expectancy upwards, we spend an amazing twenty-five years in bed! This equates to over 200,000 hours or 9000 days of horizontal time in a bed, or put another way a third of an average lifetime!
When you think about it many significant points in our life occur in a bed: we are often conceived in a bed, are born in a bed, and if fortunate enough spend many quality hours sleeping in a bed and depending on how you view such things, some amongst us are blessed sufficiently to breathe our last breath in a bed. So when expressed in those sorts of terms it becomes somewhat surprising that the purchase of a bed is not deemed to be one of, if not the most important purchases we make after that of our house.
For the majority of us it is the purchases that gain us more street credibility that we place a greater importance upon such as the desire or necessity to have the most up to date plasma HD ready television, the most in fashion mode of transport, or the latest games console that the advertisements remind you it will be impossible to live without! Yet without the bed that is just right for you, one is faced with miserable nights of poor quality sleep, tossing and turning and waking up ready to face the hard day ahead when all you really feel like doing is pulling the duvet back over your head and going back to sleep! The right bed ultimately allows you to enjoy the waking hours and when expressed like that the true importance of finding this dream bed sinks in.
We are all fully aware that each one of us is very different and there are all manner of beds out there on the market today, meaning there will be one out there just right for you no matter how specific you feel your needs of support, comfort and style are. So next time you are thinking about purchasing a new bed please give it the time and thought it deserves, remembering that if you feel rested after a night in your bed you will be better able to face whatever the next waking day decides to throw at you.
“Allow me to take you to bed” he said
“Pray Sir, for what purpose” was her reply
“We’re conceived and born in a bed,” he said
“And, ‘tis likely, in a bed we shall die”
