Everyone knows that the best tasting pizza is done in a fire oven. This same concept can be used on your bbq and get that great tasting pizza you desire. Once you have tried how tasty barbecue pizza is, pizza take-out will be a thing of the past.
Preparing Your Grilled Pizza
Roll out your pizza dough as you would normally. Get the radius slightly smaller then the radius of the grill grid. Get the dough as even as you can and bout quarter inch thick.
As anything thinner will run the risk of the base breaking and anything thicker might not get cooked properly.
Place your normal pizza toppings on for example cheese, tomato and olives as you normally would. Toppings that take longer to cook like chicken pieces should be pre-cooked before you place them on the pizza.
The grill should be at a medium to high heat and the grill grid must be well greased before placing on the pizza.
Grilling Your Pizza
After placing the pizza on the grill place the lid over shortly afterwards. You need to create a hot oven for the pizza to cook properly.
Normally cooking time is from ten to fifteen minutes depending on the heat of the grill. Once the cheese is completely melted and the ends of the pizza are slightly brown and crispy, it's done.
To get rid of the grill grid marks on the bottom of the pizza you can place two clean bricks on the grill grid and place the pizza on the bricks before you start grilling.
Pizza is really easy to do on a bbq and definitely very tasty. Once you get the hang of it you will be making pizza this way all the time.
