After plumbing first came inside the home, bathrooms served a utilitarian purpose. They were designed to get people in and out. Since there was only one bathroom per home, there was no time for relaxing inside. Another family member could need the facilities at a moment's notice. Since most homes today have more than one bathroom today, the master bathroom suite can be a place for the homeowner to relax and enjoy.

Most master bathroom suites are larger than the normal bathroom. In this large bathroom, there is normally both a sink and toilet. Additionally you may find a shower, tub or combination shower and tub. Sometimes the tub will have a whirlpool and there may also be a bidet.

When planning to remodel a bathroom suite, the following list may be helpful.

Remodeling a bathroom is expensive. In fact, the bathroom is the second most expensive room in the home to remodel. Only the kitchen costs more for remodeling. The resulting suite will be a place of pride and where you are able to relax. You will find the master bath suite may become your favorite room in the home.

As you choose your toilet, you will find that most look close to the same. Today's toilets are all designed to be low flow toilets and thus use less water. The low flow toilets often do not flush as well as the older toilets which used more water did. It is extremely important to choose a toilet with as large an opening on the underside of the toilet as possible with these toilets.

Washbasins come in many varieties today. The materials they are made of seem to be endless as are the colors available. Some may look very traditional sitting inside a vanity or on a pedestal. Others are very modernistic in looks, while still others may take you back to an earlier time in history.

Bathtubs are also available in many styles. You can find everything from a replica of a claw foot tub to the most modern of looks. Do not forget to consider the whirlpool tub it this fits into your budget.

As you plan your shower, remember that if you want more than one showerhead, you will need a larger shower stall. This may be one area where you wish to look at a custom built fixture. The tile or marble shower can be as large as you have room available. With multiple showerheads, your shower can be like standing in a rainstorm.

When choosing taps, you will again face a large variety of choices. Remember that metal faucets last longer than the cheap plastic ones. While the plastic fixture may be fine for a sink with easy access, you will want the best in your shower that will have a more difficult access.

After completing the remodel, be sure to furnish your bathroom with soft towels. Make the room compare to an upgrade spa. Provide the luxury and comfortable items that will help you to enjoy your investment.
