Virtually everyone has heard of Global Domains International. Let's look at why they are so big and why many find them appealing. Why do so many people fail with Global Domains International? Is the company that bad? Let's take a closer look.

First off, I am a distributor for Global Domains International (GDI). Let me add, though, that I am not promoting GDI to you. This all comes from my personal experience with GDI. Not just mine, but also the people I communicate with and sponsor. Some people at GDI may not like what I have to say. However, I think it's important for people to understand some things.

And second, we will not be talking about the technical side of the business opportunity such as compensation plans. If you are looking for that kind of information just visit any GDI website.

Before writing this I wanted to see what other people had to say about GDI. The search turned up a LOT of results. The first thing people talk about is the web hosting side of the company. For those that don't know, GDI is first and foremost a web hosting company. In the beginning you could only register .ws domains. That has since changed.

There are definitely better web hosting companies out there. For instance, as it is now you cannot use Wordpress with GDI. They do not support MySQL. That comes up a lot in the GDI forum. On the web hosting side they are pretty basic. Generally, their site is intended for small businesses and people looking for easy and simple websites.

There are several less expensive web hosting companies out there. The reason for this is what you get with your GDI account. Among other things an account comes with domain registration, free hosting, emails and the business opportunity. Naturally they are in this to make money, but 50% of the profits do go right back to the members. They could possibly make the accounts cheaper. If they were aiming to be the cheapest solution they probably would. Given what comes with a GDI account I definitely do not see a price change in the near future.

Something else I see is talk of bad support. My only qualm with support is in it's speed. At first, I knew very little about creating a web site. Though I've learned a little, compared to many people I'm still in the dark ages. The few times I have needed help, however, GDI has always been there. Another issue people claim to have had is with billing. My only response to this is...well, I've just never personally been confronted with a billing issue. That is probably one reason why GDI has been around for so long.

And here is another issue. As with many internet companies a large number of people never make any money. In fact, during my first two years with GDI I didn't sponsor one single person. Not a single one. I did everything my upline told me to do. By my third year I started sponsoring people, but even then they would leave as fast as I could recruit. The biggest reason for this though is that Global Domains International is not a network marketin system, they are a web hosting company. Their method of recruiting is by chasing your friends and family, hand out some DVD's, and then watch the money just pour in. This method, for most people, just simply doesn't work. And it does nothing about retention. And without proper training most people eventually quit. After 3 years, had it not been for some real network marketing training, I would have quit as well.

In the end are they a good company? Most definitely. Are they worth joining? That really depends on one key element - you. Because, as with any business out there it takes work. Before you can see any true success you need proper training. There is no way around it. As with any business there is really only one sure fire way to succeed. That is to remain consistent. You need proper training. Stop chasing people around and realize that this is a business. Make a commitment to stick with it and work for it.
