If you want to lose weight quickly and keep it down, you should give a serious look to no carb diet. A no carb diet, as the name suggests, contains zero carbohydrates. It avoids all the foods with even a hint of carbohydrates in it. This diet has the ability to quickly reduce your body weight. The effect is more pronounced if done with any form of exercise.

To be on a no carb diet is a difficult task because very few kinds of food contain no carbohydrates. Your body will also react to a no carb diet quickly. You are likely to experience headaches and weakness, possibly from the very first day itself of starting a no carb diet. However, these symptoms generally go away after a few days of adaptation.

No carb diet, or another less restrictive version that is called the low carb diet, is usually followed by people who want quick weight loss.

However, a “no carb diet” need not be followed just for its weight loss related benefits. For example, many body builders follow no carb diet a couple of weeks before a competition. It helps them get a cosmetic ripple effect on their muscles, as the muscles become more visible under the skin when it has low or no fat.

In addition, a no carb diet can also be followed patients who are recommended by their physicians to reduce blood triglycerides.

Although it is difficult to eat a diet which does not have any carbohydrate, eating a variety of plant foods is important in a no carb diet. This is because plant foods have low amounts of carbohydrate. It is fortunate for a follower of no carb diet nutrient-rich plants are low in carbohydrates too.

You have to limit the amount of starches when planning a no carb diet. When you make your weekly grocery list, keep in mind to avoid foods such as bread, potatoes, rice, cereals, noodles, pastas and tortillas. However, the biggest problem you will face is that these starchy foods are staples of daily diet. You will have to carefully decide how to find alternatives to them that your family likes.

If you eat eggs, then a no carb diet suggests using the egg white, rather than the whole egg. They look like regular eggs in an omelet and taste just as good, but are healthier because of fewer carbohydrates. The “fake” eggs are low in fats and very high in protein. It is good to include this no carb high protein food into your diet plan.

Make sure you don’t starve because it can adversely affect your body. While on no carb diet, eat lots of fiber and fat to satisfy your hunger. Foods made with flax seeds that are high in both fiber and healthy omega-3 fatty acids are highly recommended. Salads with protein (tuna, chicken, etc) and lots of dressing are also acceptable while on no carb diet.

If you suffer from diabetes or on a weight loss program, then a no carb diet is just for you. Consulting a registered dietician or a doctor before taking up any diet program would help you to achieve your goals without any hindrances.
