Dating back from the Ming Dynasty the Monkey God has been a popular deity who is liked both by the Chinese and the west alike. After being exiled from Taoist heaven, the Monkey God led Tang Xuan Zang on his pilgrimage to the West in search of Lord Buddha’s teachings where the Monkey God too was redeemed and attained immortality.
