Acne and breakouts are quite embarrassing for one and all. They spoil the entire appearance of a person. Although there are numerous treatments for acne, most of the do not seem to work. These days, a lot of people have these false beliefs or myths about acne. Some of them have been listed and explained below;

Washing your face often would give you a clear and glowing skin – blemishes on the skin are not due to dirt. The walls of a pore in the skin stick together leading to the formation of acne. Hence washing your face often tends to irritate the pores causing them to get clogged. The best advice is to wash your face using a mild face wash very gently and that too only twice in a day.

Stress leads to acne – the affect of stress on hormones may lead to acne, however, an eminent acne routine is a lot more influential than just stress.


Sex or Masturbation causes acne – this is just hype. Sex and masturbation are in no way related to acne.

Popping pimples will destroy them sooner – popping pimples may seem like a very fascinating solution to getting rid of pimples. The actual fact is that, this is make it look disappeared for just a short while and will cause it to stay for a comparatively longer time. Sometimes, this can even lead to a permanent mark on your face.

Wearing makeup would lead to acne - this is absolutely untrue. However, you must make sure that the quality of the makeup you wear is good and that it suits your skin. Also, it is very important to remove the makeup well before going to bed.

Taking all things into consideration, acne can be caused by a lot of things like family hereditary, natural skin texture, etc. You must start looking after your skin from the very beginning in order to avoid acne later on.
