USB FLASH DRIVE

A USB Flash Drive is also known as thumb drive. In Britain, it is referred to as “pen drive”. USB Flash drives are especially useful to take file copies from office system to home system, and they may be helpful if you desire data migration from old system to a new one. Available in capacities of 1 GB to 64 GB, the most commonly purchased sizes are 16 GB and 8 GB, usually considered as the best value.

Below are the things to look out for in a USB flash drive:-

•  Storage Capacity: The storage capacity of each USB Flash Drive determines its price. However, there are only a few dollar differences in prices of small sized USBs (usually from 1 GB to 16 GB). In comparison, 64 GB and 32 GB drives come at a high cost.

•  Data Encryption and Password Protection: To store sensitive information, data encryption and password protection features are essential. Internet backups and military grade technology may seem too much for a few. Nevertheless, they are useful in other cases. Certain general purpose and less expensive drives have small utility that permit secure partition formation on the drive.

•  Protective Case: Select a drive that is robust and could handle physical abuse. Some have water resistant rubberized case while some have titanium casing.

•  Cap Vs Retractable Connector: Whether you prefer a retractable or non-retractable connector is fully up to you. Some prefer retractable ones as they don't have to worry about losing the cap. However, non-retractable connectors always leave some part exposed.

•  U3 Technology: If you don't wish the U3 software in your flash disk, go in for a regular drive. However, if you desire virus protection and data security features, go for U3 based advanced USB Flash Drive.
