Who doesn’t love a photo of our four legged friends? And believe it or not, they seem to pose for us. Ask Fido to sit and smile and chances are you get a tongue hanging out and pooch smile. But it can be hard to get them to stay still for the perfect photo.
Candids photos of your pet is always the best option. It is when they are at their most natural and it is much easier than getting them to stay still. Another option that produces adorable photos is when they are sleeping. Nothing is more precious than a sleeping dog or cat. . . or baby. There is something so innocent and peaceful about sleep. Capturing your pet sleeping can produce some of your best photos.
But if you want a perfectly posed photo of your dog or cat looking into the camera, the idea is to pose them and then talk to them from behind the camera. As long as they know the command “stay”, you should be able to walk away far enough to focus the camera on them. Have a treat handy and keep repeating the word “stay”. Use the palm of your hand facing them as you say the word. Once you have the shot in your camera say something to them that might elicit a face that you like. Maybe you like when they hang out their tongue, or cock their head to the side. You know the words to say that will make them do the action that you want for your photo. Take a bunch of photos in a row to be able to choose the best shot, before your pooch or kitty gets up from boredom.

If you want to photograph more than one pet, it can be harder but is still possible. Using the same techniques and depending on the behavior of your pets, you can get some really great photos. Get them playing together, tugging on a rope, chasing each other, wrestling or kissing. If you just let them be, you can capture some great images.
Once you get those images you will want to share them with loved ones. Image hosting is a good choice to upload your photos and share them. Most image hosting services provide editing capabilities where you can crop, remove red eye, resize and more, in addition to photo blogging, adding and accepting comments and putting together a slide show.
