I hadn't had a date with her or been out with her before, but as I travelled in the taxi to Istanbul airport I felt that I knew all about her. I waited for her in the airport and I saw her instantly as she came through the doors and into the arrivals lounge. She smiled when she saw me standing there. She was just as good looking as I knew she had to be. We kissed and made our way to the taxi waiting outside. We sat in the taxi and held hands all the way back to the hotel. It was a great hotel with views of the Blue Mosque and the usual nice Turkish hospitality. We had 3 weeks to holiday and explore the land and I knew it was going to be good. I booked a room with what they called a French bed. It was easy enough to arrange it all on the Web. We had a fantastic first night with a visit to a local restaurant and then we were all cosy in our room for the rest of the night.

I was really looking forward to the next day with a visit to the Blue Mosque and many other areas of Istanbul. When we went to the Blue Mosque she was wearing shorts and this was a problem as women are supposed to cover up in these places. They gave her a cloth to cover her legs up. She wrapped the cloth half round her legs and tied it up the side with a knot. The guide was amuzed and said that it wasn't right because she now looked even sexier! I had to agree. Eventually we did get to visit the place and later we walked around the port area holding hands.

The next day we went by sea bus across the Sea of Marmara to the fishing village of Mudanya. I have an aquaintance who lives there and we were going to visit him and his family. It took a while to find him so we went to a hotel and stayed for one night. later we transferred to my friend's house. He helped us book a hire car which we were going to use for the remainder of the time.

The next day we set off down the coast. There was no real plan, just go until we found somewhere nice. The first town had a good beach and we went to ask at the different sites for a place to stay. In the end we got a place that was basically constructed out of an old container. The sides and roof were metal. It got quite hot during the day. Anyway it was not expensive and we were swimming at the beach most of the time. The site had its own restaurant and we had a fantastic lobster meal and wine on the evening.

This was building up to be a great holiday with a fantastic person to be with. I remember how different it was to the times I had been in Turkey travelling with my friend. Don't get me wrong, we never had a bad time. But this was different and somehow magical. We spent the rest of the 3 weeks travelling down the Aegean coast to the Mediterranean stopping at villages we liked the look of. It was great and I didn't want it to stop. No more single holidays for me. I had a plan. A plan that works every time! That's what you have to do: 'plan it and do it'. So, don't you think that this is a very different idea on how to find your soulmate?
