They say it can be tough to get a scholarship if you are a mom. My question is who are "they" and how the heck do they know? The reality is that it's easier than you think.
Some scholarships require you to fill out an application and get kind of specific. They want to know why YOU deserve the scholarship, how you will use the money to become a success and what your future plans are. This type of scholarship application gives you a chance to stand out in the crowd!
There are other scholarships that are more like raffles or lotteries. You register, and they draw a winner. The nice thing about these scholarships is you don't have to qualify and they don't have any specific requirements. I know many people that have earned their degrees using only this kind of scholarship.
There are also specific scholarships available from Colleges, businesses and the government. All of these have specific criteria and you must qualify to apply.
All of the above scholarships can be found online! You can apply/register to as many as you want, as there are no laws limiting you to just one or two! There are literally thousands of scholarships to apply for online, you just need to do simple searches!
Going to college is very expensive, so the more scholarships you apply for the more likely you are to be able to afford all of the costs involved! When considering the costs of college, don't forget these basics:
Tuition and fees
Books
Computer Software or specific course equipment
Travel costs, (if you commute to class)
Living expenses
That short list can literally end up costing thousands of dollars per year! Hence the reason you need to apply for as many scholarships as you can find! It can be done and trust me when I say scholarships are a much better way to go than student loans. You don't have to pay scholarship money back, but you sure do have to pay back student loans and that can take years!
I know how hard it is to go back to school so I did some research for you.
