Staying yeast free through medication, self-help measures, or by following yeast free diet is becoming popular as a number of people of both sexes are being afflicted with yeast infection, which contribute to a number of other health problems. Candida albicans or Monilia is the most common yeast infection. Candida usually manifests itself to the vaginal area, the prostate, the heart, lungs, and liver. These infections subsequently cause several other illnesses. Although, it is a harmless parasite, its excessive growth can cause an infection and women are most prone to contracting it.

The causes, symptoms, and remedies of infections in the mouth, throat, intestinal tract, and so forth are the same as in the other age groups, but the most grave is the vaginitis (vaginal yeast infection). If this condition becomes extreme, it can prove fatal. It is important for women to be extra careful to keep themselves yeast free, which is easy to do because of the various options available these days.

Precautions:

• For effective treatment, one can follow yeast free diet that restricts foods containing refined sugar, as it enhances the growth of fungus.

• Vinegar as well as other fermented food products should be avoided as per requirements of the yeast free diet.

• It is always advisable to consult a doctor in case of fever, chills, muscle or joint pain, and any of several mood disorders, including: depression, lack of concentration, mood swings, anxiety, drowsiness or fatigue.

• Follow general hygiene and cleanliness tips.

• A yeast free diet can also be suggested in case of obesity.

Causes:

• One of the most common causes within women are hormonal changes, especially those that occur during pregnancy or menopause. Oral contraceptives can also trigger such infection.

• As is the case generally, lack of hygiene is a significant contributor to these infections. Besides, it is also contracted during sexual intercourse if one of the individuals is already infected.

• Diabetes mellitus, pregnancy, and intake of oral contraceptives.

• Medications and lubricants that kill anti-yeast bacteria are also a major cause. These include steroids, vaginal douches, spermicides, and sexual lubricants containing glycerin.

• Candidiasis in the urethra or bladder can cause urinary tract infections, which does not respond to antibiotics.

• Infections passed on by mothers to the newborn at birth. This happens especially if the birth canal is infected.

• Treatments such as Chemotherapy are also known to cause infections to the vagina.

• Tight clothing which does not allow the skin to “breathe” provides a breeding ground for yeast.

Remedies:

• Antifungal topical creams, antifungal oral medications, or intravenous injections. Some of these are available over the counter. However, most have to be prescribed by physicians

Creams to keep you yeast free include Antifungal creams like butoconazole (Femstat 3), clotrimazole (Lotrimin), miconazole (Monistat), terconazole (Terazol), and so forth

• Oral Medication that keeps you yeast free include clotrimazole (Lotrimin, Mycelex), miconazole (Monistat; Micatin), terconazole (Terazol), nystatin (Mycostatin), and so forth

By following a yeast free diet and making a conscious effort to rely primarily on basic unprocessed foods the body will be healthier, and you can get rid of the undesirable symptoms of yeast. However, is always advisable to consult a qualified doctor when such an infection occurs.
