The red ring of death is a very harmful malfunction from the Xbox 360. Harming over 20% of all consoles, it drags the funnest gaming system down to useless machine. Fixing the console can take weeks or even months, and can be very costly. However, it is not permanent, and you can fix it. Fix the red ring of death with these three simple steps.
Step 1: Identify The Problem. The horrible red ring of death can mean several different things, which means several different solutions. The first thing to look at is of course how many quadrants of the ring are flashing red. Four red lights is the simplest problem of all, this is an AV cable problem. Fix this by fixing your settings between the TV and console, or purchase new AV cables. Three red lights is the most common of all the issues, usually with the E74 error. Two red lights is an overheating problem, most likely caused from one or more times when you left the console on for too long. One red light could mean many different issues depending on the error code displayed on the screen:

Step 2: Select A Solution To Your Problem. This is the most important part of the repair process. One way to fix it, would be to go to the Xbox Support Page. However, I do not recommend this because it can be very costly and can take a very long time. I will explain my best recommendation later in this article.
