A great idea for the fall wedding is to have great decorations that will reflect the changing of the seasons in nature. Rather than focus on the more human aspects of the season focus on the natural phenomenon that occur at this time of year. This is the perfect type of theme for the Conservation conscious bride. Here are some interesting things you can do with decorations and favors to help you plan a "Green" autumn wedding.

First try having the wedding outdoors. You can use the natural beauty of autumn scenery as a dramatic backdrop for your ceremony. This can be a challenge because the weather can be a bit fickle this time of year with it swinging from warm to cool quite rapidly. So if you do plan to hold an outdoor ceremony, make sure to consult your local forecast and plan accordingly. Another good idea is to have a back up date or venue just in case. Also if you are determined to still do it in cooler weather, invest in portable heaters. It will be a compromise, but you can offset the energy being used with energy efficient models or use green ideas like using a glasshouse as the venue.

Whether you decide to have the wedding indoors or outdoors, another great thing that you can do is to make use of natural foliage and flowers in your wedding decorations. There are several ways to do so that will bring a portion of autumn to your nuptials. A great idea is autumn wreaths. You can make or order wreaths made from dried grasses, wickerwork, or tree branches, and fall leaves that can create charming door decorations for the entrance of your ceremony or reception venue. Another great suggestion is to use these same materials for aisle markers to adorn the main aisle. You can also use seasonal vegetables such as pumpkins or squash for the same purpose. An interesting concept that has cropped up in fall wedding magazines is using bunches of dried grasses or wheat to adorn torchiers as unique candleholders to add to the ambience of the ceremony venue.

You can also use fall foliage to adorn your tables at guest receptions. You can use to enhance your centerpieces by mixing them with fall flowers like poppies, chrysanthemum, and sunflowers. They can also be used as standalone centerpieces. You can take it a step further with fall leaves. Another great idea is "Plantable Placecards" these are seating cards that can also double as favors. They are organic and filled with seed so you can plant them in the ground in anticipation of the spring.

This leads to green favors. You can give out favors such as fall themed bottles and other gear from your favorite green charities and foundations. You will not only give your guest useful gifts like totes and other gear, but you will help raise awareness about your favorite causes in a casual and unobtrusive way.

Finally make use of fall themed soy candles. These are biodegradable and are a clean source of light that you can use for a more intimate atmosphere for your ceremony or reception. You can also find varieties online that can be customized with meaningful messages, come in novel shapes, or even have images of you and your groom.
