TOOLS FOR THE DYSLEXIC:LEARNING TO NAVIGATE THROUGH A
NON-DYSLEXIC WORLD WHEN YOU VIEW THE WORLD
COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY
Dyslexia affects many Americans in all age groups with all
socioeconomic backgrounds. Many times, I would daydream in
class because the material would be hard for me to follow. In
addition, teachers have to "revamp" their classroom routine to
help dyslexic students and when they have a "schedule" to keep,
they are anything but interested and motivated to help students
learn. Yes, it was incredibly frustrating, but I also learned how to
deal with my dyslexic moments so I could speak and write
correctly for him. There were two aspects that completely helped
me through my academic experience. It can be the difference of
failure or success for the individual suffering with this debilitating
ailment. It affects the way we communicate with others, the way
we look at questions, following instructions and the way we think
about things. Dyslexia tends to touch all aspects of the life of the
person who is suffering from it.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
If you are obviously thinking about what you say, the individual
you are speaking with will be impressed and will find that you are
a "careful" individual, more professional and smart. " This can be
an extremely embarrassing mistake to make when speaking with
an employer, someone you're interviewing with or new people you
just met. When conveying a message to another person or boss,
and you tend to have a problem with conveying the correct
message, (i.
VERB AGREEMENTS
Verb usage may prove to be quite difficult for you as a dyslexic.
While dyslexics can flip flop pronouns easily, they also can have a
tendency to use different verb tenses in a sentence. When
speaking with someone else, you should find that slowing down
when you speak and correcting what you say will help you form
correct sentences.
WRITING
You can simply tell them, for example, "The best way to get in
touch with me is by e-mail. For dyslexics, writing is probably one
of the best ways to communicate because one can go back and
correct whatever they have written.
TAKING STANDARDIZED TESTS
Standardized tests can be very difficult for dyslexics to take. For
some dyslexics, individuals will fill in an inappropriate circle
because they have filled in the incorrect circle thinking they have
filled in the correct circle. Dyslexics do this on a regular basis
without knowing they did this, and are furious with his or her self
when they inadvertently got the wrong answer. e. For the person
who constantly struggles with standardized test exams, hearing
"it's a multiple choice test exam, and it's easy" from someone
who has never struggled can be emotionally devastating. Next,
look for a pattern. It will help you develop the mindset for taking
the given exam and will help you understand exactly how your
instructor wants you to take the exam. However, approaching the
test in a logical format trying to understand where you go wrong
and how the questions are going to be asked will help you take
the exam and pass it. These tools will help you combat the
problems you have when taking this type of an exam. Cats

INSTRUCTIONS
You should find the tools that help you the most because it will
only make your life easier. I once bought a futon from a name
brand company and couldn't figure out how to put it together no
matter how many times I read the instructions and looked at the
pictures. Remember, some of the best ways for dyslexics to
communicate with others is through writing or e-mail. Studying
similar tests will help you get in the mindset of taking the given
exam and understanding how the questions will be asked will only
help you to succeed. The bottom line for combating dyslexia
simply is getting into the hang of rereading, proofreading, double
and triple checking everything you say or do. That way, you can
double and triple check everything you wrote, (and what they
wrote), so you can make sure you are answering their questions
in a professional and appropriate manner. You will have to think
about how to change your life to minimize these moments.
