Some may thing that preparing a den for your puppy may be exactly the same process as creating a place to live for an older dog, but you are wrong. The biggest problem with puppies is the fact, they can't control their bladder and bowel movements, thus they eliminate completely unconsciously. This means, your pet can destroy the surface in his den or any other place he will spend time at.
