Alopecia in men is measured by the Hamilton-Norwood scale, in stages one to seven. In women, it is measured using the Ludwig scale, in stages one to three.

Apart from cures, baldness is generally replaced with hair implants or artificial hair.

The state of baldness can be prevented by intake of nutrient rich food with minerals essential for hair growth. Many natural treatments are also found for alopecia. It includes massaging the scalp with special oils.
