In what are definitely tough times economically, every other government seems to be focused on trying to squeeze their cash outflow as much as they can. But instead of going for the short-term result of saving cash, the President has taken this opportunity to spend federal dollars in trying to bring American mothers back to school.
What this will effectively do is that it'll create a force of talented and qualified individuals in the country who will be serious contenders for all those jobs that are today being outsourced. This will automatically mean less unemployment and increased spending in the country.
Keeping in mind that a mother has already too much complexity in her life, managing kids, job and family, the process of applying for the scholarship has been kept very simple. There is no extra step except for filling out the FASFA form at the time of applying for college and course of your choice. Just that one extra form to fill and you become eligible to receive up to $10,000 a year in scholarship!
There is no need to worry about returning this amount either as this is totally funded by the government. There is no interest and the sum is tax-free.
Recession or not, there couldn't possibly have been a better program than this for students who wish to continue their studies.
