If you were to look at all of your bills could you tell me automatically what your most expensive one is besides your car or home payment? For many people this would be their energy bill. Depending on the size of your house you could be spending anything between $150 to $600. I know it sounds outrageous but this is typical for many individuals.

This bill is high because of the air conditioning, washer and dryer, light bulbs, computers, and other electrical items in our home that utilize energy to work. With all of the electrical conveniences that many people use it is no wonder that these bills are so much. To cut back on this bill you have to know how to properly use certain things.

AC Abuse

Too many of us will allow the AC run all day and night so that we are constantly comfortable. This is nice but why do this when no one is even in the home? During work hours turn the AC up to 78 or 80 degrees so that it is not working at all. When you get home put it at the temperature you wish it to be and then don’t touch it till the next morning when you leave again.

Turn Things Off

I can’t very well tell you to not watch TV as frequently or to wash your clothes once a week because this isn’t constantly practical for us. Instead make a point that you turn everything off when it is not being utilized. Don’t keep the TV on and don’t leave the lights on when you only need one.

Different Light Bulbs

There are so many light bulbs and inside of the house that it may add up. Change out these high powered bulbs for something more convenient you have the ability to utilize the energy efficient or the low-voltage light bulbs. Both of these will help to reduce the amount of power required to use them.
