There are a number of excellent books that give you step-by-step instructions for setting up your own debt management plan.

The basics of most of these plans are to organize your bills and get a solid idea of what you owe and who you owe it to. Pay minimum payments on all your accounts and pay as much as you can towards the account you have selected to eliminate first. Once you have paid it off, select another account as your target account and follow the same process. You should have more to pay towards this account, since you have already paid one of your accounts off. If you follow this procedure you will soon begin to see your debts decrease as well as your stress level.

If you feel this is more than you can handle, credit counseling is help that comes from a nonprofit organization. They consolidate all of your unsecured debt by without another loan. You make one payment each month to your credit counselor and they will disburse it to your lenders. Make the required 2% payment each month will have you debt free within 5 years.
