After a photo shoot, the first thing you want to do is go home and download your photos. After viewing them you might want to change a few things to enhance them, make them better, crop them or compress file size. Whatever it is that you want to do, you can do with computer software specializing in just that thing.

Adobe Photoshop is a tool that professionals use to edit photos, but there are many other image editors out there that can do the job. There are image hosting websites that allow you to upload your images and edit on the fly, removing red eye, cropping, adjusting color and more. The best way to edit an image is to enlarge the image to zoom in on the area to be rendered. Cropping is the best way to frame an image that might not have been framed correctly during the shoot. You want to make sure that your object is centered or off centered in a more artistic way, but not haphazardly. You will want to remove any objects or people from the background that are not supposed to be there. You might even want to change the background entirely.

If you think you might want to add your own background to pictures after downloading them, you should consider taking the picture with a solid background. This makes it easier to remove the background with an image editor. There are tools that will select colors that are the same and group them and you can remove them with one click. In a busy background it is harder to select the background to remove it, without having to actually cut the object itself out of the picture and position it on an entirely new background. Either way once the object is free of its background you can layer it over a new background and a new picture is formed.

Another cool trick in editing is to play with color tones changing the tones to blue to red to green and any other color. The colors with transparently overlay changing the tone of the entire picture and giving it a whole new look. You can also smooth out wrinkles in a picture, change skin tone, add hair and much more.

Once your pictures are edited you will want to consider image hosting to keep your photos safe and to share them easily and quickly with whomever you wish. A hosting company is a good back up plan in case of a hard drive failure not to mention the ease at which to share a single link to an entire album of photos versus emailing a 2M file to friends and family.
