IT CAN BE HARD
Deciding on which birthday party activities to have at your child’s next birthday party can often be overwhelming. Obviously, a party should focus on the birthday girl, so be sure to involve her when planning her party. However, if you are planning a surprise party, involving her will not really be an option, but try to ensure that you know what fun activities she likes to do with her friends, so that you include some of these.

YOUR FIRST DECISION: WHERE?
The location of the party is the first choice you’ll have to make. Remaining at home will be cheaper and give you more control. Having said that, you’ll also have to do the clearing up yourself

YOUR SECOND (AND MAIN!) DECISION: WHAT TO DO?
The second choice you’ll need to make is what birthday party activities to do at your venue. This depends upon what your answer is to the first question. I think there are four main categories.

Firsty, there are many activities which involve music. Having an area for the children to boogie to their favorite songs is one idea. We also include games like Musical Statues and Musical Chairs. Having an electronic dance-mat is entertaining too.

Secondly, there's motion. This is obviously connected to the musical category if the girls are dancing, but any activity where physical exertion is involved would be included here. Games in this category allow the girls to wear themselves a bit and get some physical exercise!
Where a few of the party goers prefer less physical activities, the rules can be adjusted so everyone is involved.
Tag is a great game to play and there are so heaps of ways to play it (e.g. if a girl is tagged, they become another, or someone can be untagged by their friends running around them three times, etc).Sack races are great fun.

Thirdly, there's singing. Karaoke never fails to get everyone involved and having a great time. Making the girls mime to songs is guaranteed to make them all laugh.
Missing Words is a game we love playing. Each girl selects a song and each tune is then played in order. Everyone sings along to each of the songs and if someone makes a mistake, they lose. Whoever sings most of the songs with the correct lyrics wins.

Finally, there are crafts to do. My daughters always love playing Demented Cosmetics. It’s a variation of the usual makeup games (where girls apply makeup to themselves), but the girls have to use clown paint and make themselves look demented. It’s excellent for pictures (and for educating the girls about makeup!).

Styling each other’s hair is also lots of fun. Buy some products which are suitable for children’s skin and hair. Let them go wild. This will occupy them for ages!
Decorating white tops is also lots of fun. Purchase some fabric paint and fabric dyes and let them decorate the clothes that you’ve bought in advance.
Making food is also enjoyable. A taste test which involves foods that you suspect they have not tried before is good fun. However, check with their parents to see if they have any food allergies.

ALL IN ALL
Birthday parties require activities to ensure everyone has a good time. Just think about the girl you're planning for, and what she and her friends like to do - get as much inspiration from them as possible, and you can ensure your party is unique! Enjoy.
