Drinking pure water gives our body nutrition and transports important minerals to our organs. People have different opinions as to which drinking water is the purest and safest. This article exposes five bottled water myths, the reason behind these and provides you with information about the best source of pure drinking water.
Myth 1 Bottled water is the purest and cleanest source of our drinking water.
Bottled water is perceived to be pure and safe because heavy ad-campaigns of different brands of bottled water are pressed to the public. These ads falsely claim that bottled water is as pure as natural spring water, rich in minerals. In fact bottled water industry has minimal regulations. No testing is required to prove that bottled water is pure, healthy or safe.
Myth 2 The plastic bottle the water is stored in is safe.
This claim is disputed by many. The water in the plastic bottles can get contaminated through plastic by-products. Plastic when heated releases Dioxins, a deadly by-product that is known to cause cancer. The bottled water is often kept in warm temperatures. This exposure to high temperature causes Dioxins to contaminate the water in the bottles.
Myth 3 Bottled water is environment friendly since the plastic bottles can be reused.
The reuse of plastic bottles exposes the users to bacteria and other chemicals leaked from the plastic. Moreover the manufacturing of these plastic bottles is not eco-friendly at all. Many pollutants and eco resources are used during the manufacturing and delivering of these plastic bottles like natural gas, crude oil and the trucks or trains used for delivery.
Myth 4 Bottled water is better than the tap water.
There are no testing requirements or regulations to prove that bottled water is better or more pure than tap water; therefore the industry’s claim is false. To add to our confusion two different agencies regulate tap water and bottled water. FDA i.e. the Food and Drug Administration regulates the bottled water and EPA i.e. Environmental Protection Agency regulates tap water.
Myth 5 Bottled water has added minerals or vitamins that make bottled water purer and healthier.
This sounds attractive but there is no actual proof to support the claim that these added minerals make the water healthier. Water in its original form provides our body with all the required minerals. These added minerals make little difference to our health.
These five myths are not the only misconceptions people have regarding bottled water. The bottled water companies go to great lengths to make people believe their false claims. The bottled water industry spends millions of dollars on promotional campaigns every year. Any bad image of the bottled water is quickly disputed by the industry.
Bottled water is a multi-million dollar industry with little regulation. So the water we drink might not be as pure or healthy as we are lead to believe. Steering clear of all of the misleading information is not simple but some easy steps can be taken in order to minimize the risk from bottled water.
In our view the best and purest drinking water that you can have is ionized alkaline water. Alkaline water is water that has gone through a water ionizer.
Alkaline water has a pH level that is slightly higher than the neutral level of pH 7. Over 70% of our body is water. When the pH level of the water in our body get lower than 7.0 we experience acidity in the stomach, heart burn, weight gain, fatigue and other more deadly diseases and disorders. The most favorable pH level of water is considered to be pH7.3 which is slightly on the alkaline side.
Drinking alkaline water is the best way to maintain a healthy alkaline balance in your body keeping your energy levels high.
