Many of the most common killer diseases are or can be caused by obesity; by losing extra weight, you can significantly reduce your risk of developing these diseases. Keep reading to learn more about some of these diseases and how obesity plays a role in their development.

1. High blood pressure and cholesterol levels: Obesity is often the cause of high blood pressure and it is well known that most people with high cholesterol levels are also obese. By losing weight you can improve these conditions; but if you already suffer from them, then you should consult with your physician before beginning any weight loss program.

2. Diabetes: Diabetes is also often caused by obesity. Diabetes is bad enough on its own, but the disease can also lead to kidney disease, blindness and is often a precursor of heart disease.

Diabetics have much higher incidences of stroke than do people who are not diabetic. Those who are both diabetic and obese need to follow a diet plan which is aimed at improving both conditions. It’s not always easy to find a diet which will do this, so you should start eating a healthy diet and working to lose excess weight before you acquire a serious disease.

3. Snoring: OK; so snoring isn’t a killer disease as such, but it is more serious than you may think. Obviously, anyone who shares a bed with you hates your snoring and you most likely already want to stop – but how can you stop snoring? As it happens, losing weight can prevent snoring.

In obese people, fatty deposits tend to develop in their throats; when they’re lying down asleep, these deposits partially obstruct their breathing, leading to snoring. Snoring doesn’t only affect your household – it prevents you from getting sleep which is as restful as it would be if you didn’t snore; eventually this can cause fatigue.

This fatigue can lead to overeating in an attempt to regain your former energy; which just leads to further weight gain, more snoring and more fatigue!

To prevent or eliminate snoring and these other diseases, a healthy weight loss plan is the answer.

Not only can you lose weight by following a healthy weight loss plan, but it will help you to maintain a healthy weight once you have reached it. Millions of people all over the world have lost weight this way – and there is no reason why you can’t join them! Lose weight and get into shape and you’ll have a longer, healthier life as your reward.
