With solar panels becoming more popular, there are many online guides for building solar panels. These guides walk you through the process of how to build solar panels for power. However, not all guides are created equally. Don't purchase a guide that doesn't offer detailed instructions, videos, support and most importantly, a refund if after all this you still can't get the hang of it.

Solar panels are fairly easy to make, especially with videos to walk you through the tricky parts. You should be able to build a solar panel for about $200 and a dedicated weekend.

While your $200 solar panel will make a difference in your power bill, it will not allow you to be independent of the electric company. To generate enough power for independence requires more than one panel. These panels are joined in series with the power that they generate being fed into a battery bank. There are calculators available that will allow you to find out just how many panels you will need if you are planning to free yourself of your power company.

The battery bank is another necessary step in this freedom. It stores the excess power that you've generated and feeds it back slowly as needed. The cost of the battery bank is not included in the simple $200 estimate for the panel and will vary depending on the batteries that you use and the storage unit. Since batteries work on DC current, you should not try to build a battery bank without a clear plan for the storage unit in place. Putting the battery bank online requires coordination with the power company, and ideally, an electrician.

Another item that is not included in the $200 price tag is a solar pathfinder. This piece of equipment sells for around $200 without software. I didn't have any luck finding one at my local hardware store, but online, they are readily available. The solar pathfinder is the "gadget" that you use to find the ideal location for your solar panels. This is necessary because the position of the sun in the sky changes throughout the year. This little honey has that information available for you so that you never end up with your panels behind the tree line.

All in all, the additional expense will no doubt easily be recovered within the first year of your new found freedom from the power company. Be sure not to take shortcuts where power is involved. It’s not always a mistake that you can live with.

Still thinking that you should Build Solar Panels for Power? There's a very good diy manual that includes videos for the difficult steps and, they even have support available in case the manual and videos aren't enough. Check it out at http://www.nopowerbill.info. There is also a DIY manual included to make a wind turbine. The right choice for either option.
