So you want to get six pack abs that you long for? Many men and some women wish to develop six pack abs but only a few are willing to sacrifice to develop the six pack abs that are now so coveted.
Your fitness is as much a mental condition as it is a physical one. You have a strong will to get in shape and be willing to do the hard work and make the sacrifices to get there. As everyone knows who has thought about getting in shape, it does not come easy. And, that is why we see so many overweight and out of shape people.
The good news is that you may already have a good start on your six pack abs. The muscles are there and in most cases developed or you would not be able to sit upright or walk comfortably.
They have just become covered with layer upon layer of fat from over indulgence over the years. Your first consideration in showing off that body has to be to shed the extra pounds that are covering it and keeping it from view.
Diet should be your first step. Six pack abs are not built on processed sugar and white flour. Your apple fritter or sticky bun may taste good in the morning but do you really want to wear it for the rest of your life? When you eliminate the bad things from your diet replace them with the good. Natural sugars are available in fresh fruits so eat those instead.
Your body needs fiber so eat vegetables, whole grains, or stone ground flour. Replace your fatty meats with the leaner ones such as chicken, turkey, or fish. Soy provides a complete protein and will help you to build the healthy cells needed for your sculpted body.
Exercise is important too. No one gets six pack abs by sitting on the couch and watching TV. You will want to avoid doing the wholesale abdominal crunches that look so tempting. They are needed, but, for every exercise you do for the abdominal muscles, do an equal amount for the back muscles.
Just as important are the cardio-vascular exercises. You need to get your heart functioning and pumping properly. Remember your heart is a muscle too and one of the most important ones in your body. As a last reminder, before undertaking a new exercise or diet program consult with your doctor about your general health first.
