You know, we as humans engage in a lot of activities and among them dieting is one of the most ineffectual of them all. When else do people starve themselves for days or weeks and sometimes even months, to achieve a certain goal, that usually only lasts for a few months?

One definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing repeatedly, while expecting a different outcome. And if ever there is a behavior we can use to illustrate this is the fact that though most diets are a dismal failure at helping folks meet and maintain their weight loss goals, people continue to go on diets! Go figure. Remember, 95% of all who diet will gain back every ounce they struggled to lose and more. This should tell you something about diets in general, they don't work!


As a peruse the Internet, I have noticed that the diets that are in highest demand require not only severe food restrictions, but are also the most demanding of your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual investment as well. I'm sad to say most of these types of diets end in failure and could jeopardize your health.

In the US alone, the weight loss industry generates billions, not millions, but billions of dollars every year. And they get this money by playing on the hopes of millions of people who yearn to lose weight and keep it off. Insidious marketers are intimately acquainted with human behavior and know that most people will stop at just about nothing to achieve their weight goals. The US is drowning in diet regiments and weight loss routines. Then why are Americans getting increasingly fatter and still lead the world in obesity?


You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that if you severely curtail your consumption this will cause diet failure for the main thing that you will crave most will be food! If you have been on a diet for an extended length of time, chances are high that when your program ended (that is if you made it to the end), you binged on food because you were so deprived during your diet. Thus, not only did you gain back your weight, but you packed on extra pounds! The majority of most weight loss plans also run aground because they are fleeting in nature and not designed to give you long-lasting results.

I'm railing against all the mania diets that feed the multi-billion dollar diet industry in America, this does not take into account this industry's counterparts in the rest of the world.More than 62% of Americans are counted as clinically obese and in excess of half of all Americans are on a diet, or have taken on a diet plan in the past year.


On top of this, every 30 days or so there crops up another 'wonder' diet counteracting all its predecessors. One ad says to eat only protein and avoid carbohydrates, the other says eat only carbohydrates and avoid protein. Can they both be right? I would be remiss if I didn't mention the calorie counting, weight loss pills, portion downsizing, and everything in between. Is it possible this is all correct?

So it appears that the only way you can lose weight and keep it off is to avoid dieting.
