Lean muscle supplements are important in muscle building programs. These products are part of the nutritional program; and as such, should be given attention as the workout program. However, for those who are wary of manufactured products, there is no reason to miss out on the benefits provided by dietary supplements. There are natural nutritional ways to lean muscle growth and some of them are discussed below.

Purpose of supplementation

We all know that muscle building is a two-pronged approach comprised of the nutritional part and the workout part. Dietary supplements are meant to be additions to the dietary program. They are supposed to be used to prevent deficiencies that might be caused by poorly designed dietary plans.

Going natural in muscle mass building

Despite the importance of the role played by dietary supplements, a person trying to build lean muscles can still do without these products. How, you might ask? By going natural. Whatever vitamins or minerals these supplements are providing can be acquired through fresh and natural meals.

Vitamin D sources

Muscle growth requires certain vitamins and minerals and one of the most important is vitamin D. If you don't like taking vitamin D supplements, then you'd better start having bran cereals and oatmeal for your breakfast. Cereals are rich in fiber and vitamin D and can provide the required amount necessary to build muscle mass. Legumes and shellfish are also great sources of vitamin D.

Importance of calcium and magnesium in muscle building

Calcium is another necessary element in muscle growth. There are a number of calcium supplements available commercially, but if you prefer the natural way, then include milk and cheese in your daily meals to get the calcium needed by your body. Other great sources of calcium are yogurt, beans, tofu, spinach and salmon. One should take note, though that too much calcium in itself can cause stomach upsets; that is why it should be taken in conjunction with magnesium. Foods that are good sources of magnesium include soybeans and soy milk, okra, shellfish, broccoli and nuts.

Omega-3 fatty acids

Another necessary element for any muscle growth program, fatty acids can be acquired from flaxseeds, olive oil, fish oil, beans, walnuts and squash among others. Salmon and tofu are also great sources of omega-3.

Lean muscle supplements are good additions to a muscle building program; but if you want to go all-natural, then pay attention to your diet program and increase your intake of food rich in vitamins and minerals needed for muscle growth.
