I always thought that taking picturers at a wedding was one of the easiest jobs around, but once I got into potography and started to learn the business of my trade, you work your tail off come wedding day. Everybody is just a little hyped because of the event and you must become a calm in a sea of storm, sometimes just to be able to capture their moment, as long as you act professional the wedding party will follow what ever you suggest to make their special day the best.

I went to a pawn shop and bought a used 35mm camera for 100 dollars, and started taking picture of my family first. I can remember my mother hiding her face the first time I tried to take her picture, my hair is not done yet she said, as she quickly left the room covering her face and head. My father just sat there in the living room reading the news paper, as I caught him by surprised with the flash of my camera. All my brothers and sisters just huddled around me trying to get in every shot that I took.

Once I started taking pictures, I realized that I had to get to know what the gauges were around the lens of my camera, if I wanted to become good at photography. At the time I could not afford to take classes for my new found interest, so I went to the library and took out books on the subject and learn that way. There were a lot of things, I had no idea that a photographer had to know to take a good pictures. The book taught me about aperture, foreground, background, shutter speed, sunlight and flash. This may sound like a lot to learn just to take a picture, but if you want to do this professionally that the road you have to travel.

Three months later I got my first professional gig, taking pictures at a one year old birthday party. At first I thought this was a piece of cake to handle, but after all the aunts and uncles started arriving with their children, and everybody is looking for you for direction, on how the pictures taking should be setup, changed my feeling about this gig being a piece of cake. I made it through without to many amateur mistakes. Today I still take pictures professionally but only on a part time basis, because once the word of mouth about my picture taking got around, and my work seem to make people satisfied, my business grow very quickly. Working part time still gave me enough monetary gain, and still has time for my own personal life. Like they say, a perfect picture can say a thousand words.
