A wreath sets in the festive mood. Where from this tradition of hanging wreaths originated? According to some, it can be traced back to 7th century BC. At that time, a crown was given to the winners of the Olympics. This crown was made out of tree branches. Probably the athletes took pride in showcasing their crowns by hanging it outside their houses or on their walls and maybe it is the origin of hanging of the wreaths. No matter what the traditional story says about the wreaths, it is the most gorgeous way to adorn your house on Christmas. Although there are other types of wreaths available like the Fall Wreath, the Summer Wreath or the Spring Wreath, yet the most widely used is the Christmas wreaths. People owning two houses, simply hang a Christmas wreath on their front door of the house they do not inhabit, simply not to spoil the festive spirit of the neighborhood. A Christmas wreath finds its place anywhere in the house – on door, fences, windows, gates. They can also be used to adorn the fireplace or even as a centerpiece or even as the advent wreaths on the table.

Almost all the families love making their own Christmas wreaths. This helps them bring together at the festival time and share some quality time together. People like to personify the wreaths they make. It gives them the freedom to vent their interests in a more meaningful orientation. For example, a person who loves gardening decorates his wreath with the dried flowers, which are a specialty of his own garden. On the other hand, a bird lover may adorn his wreath with small birds and different types of berries birds. Berries add color and elegance to the wreath. Some may also add sea urchins, sea shells, dried seedpods like poppies and pine cones. To add that extra glamour, you can also think of spray painting your seedpods with silver or golden color. Be careful while coloring the seedpods with the spray paint and leave it for a few days for drying.

Christmas wreaths can also be an excellent gift for your friends and families, on the occasion of Christmas. Well, you can also purchase from the stores. Fact is the ones you get are pretty costly. In order to appease your guests or friends you may put that extra burden on your wallet. Additional benefit of making your own Christmas wreaths is that you can disengage them when it’s time to get the Christmas ornaments down. This you can preserve and try to use for the next season. Christmas wreath is such a wonderful ornament that it can set off your Christmas tree. It also lengthens your evergreen winter theme of your décor. A Christmas wreath symbolizes triumph of life over long winter months.
