It may sound like a contradiction at first, but losing weight while building muscle is possible, provided that you have both a good diet and a good workout. You have to be willing to keep up with both programs.


A diet is not simply about losing weight. It is about correcting unhealthy eating habits. A good workout diet involved meats and fruits and vegetables, which are necessary anyway. What the diet will also require is that you do way with fatty foods and sugary foods.


We can burn calories with simple activities around the house, such as yard work or housekeeping. Walking or running is also another way to burn off calories. The more energy and effort required, the more calories would be burnt.


Your metabolism is the ability of your body to convert food into energy. If you are sitting around and doing nothing, that energy turns into fat, which is stored for later use. When you work on building your muscle, not only do you use that energy but you also are making larger muscles that will consume energy more rapidly in the future, to prevent you from becoming obese later on. This all relies on keeping up a healthy lifestyle.


Strength training is the key to muscle gain. As mentioned above, more muscles means your body will use energy more quickly. In order to keep your shape, you need to keep working. Strength and resistance training are the key parts of good program. These sorts of exercises will control body fat while building your muscle size. This is all done in combination with the new healthy diet.


Some people may worry that by losing body weight, they are losing muscle mass and strength. This will only happen if you are not attentive to your program. You should find the right balance of foods, focusing on proteins. Eat often on days when you work out and not as often on the days when you don't. You can't fall into old habits of packing in the calories just because it seems like your workout session is burning them off. The kind of thinking will lead you right back to square one. By staying on track, you can lose weight and build muscle to get the perfect look.
