China is a hive of activity, and its cities are no different, especially Dalian, which is considered as one of the most populated in China. Dalian is positioned towards the north coast, and is often patronized due to its beaches. This is despite the fact that the city does experience a long winter.

The city came under the spotlight a couple of years back owing to the Trans Siberian railway and the city being earmarked as a probable station. Although China retains much of its traditional art forms and culture, Dalian is perhaps by far the most modern of its cities.

Having been opened to the public in 2002, the place is home to animals from the south and north polar regions. Animals such as sea elephants are showcased in a very natural habitat along with popular species like penguins and polar bears.

The range of species on show at the aquarium is sure to enthrall any member of the family. Over thousands of varieties of fish are enclosed in the aquarium, along with over 300 species of sharks. A popular feature as in any aquarium is the dolphins and have their own performance show.


The aquarium also allows visitors to get up close with the animals and even pet sea dogs or seals. The institution is considered as the biggest polar aquarium to be found in the world and a visit to it is a must.

Those traveling to the South side of Dalian, will want to make a stop at the Tiger beach Amusement Park. The place is actually laid out like a recreational centre and incorporates the Tiger Beach Park, as well as Marine World and the Bird’s Forest.

Tiger Beach caters to not only kids but adults as well. It offers options for entertainment, swimming and even shopping. The place has become famous for its huge sculpture of a Tiger and of courses the country’s biggest bird cage. The park is also popular amongst families for the dolphin show that it features.
