Orlando may not be the first destination you think of when you're searching for the perfect place to go to for an amazing shopping trip, but it'll certainly reign supreme if you choose this exciting and fashionable city for some much needed retail therapy - and it makes for an excellent family holiday too.

Packed with malls, pedestrianised shopping precincts and fashion stores even the kids will be itching to get to, Orlando is perfectly suited to the family - even if you're the only one hoping to get a little shopping done. With the convenience of theme parks such as the incredible Universal Studios all on hand, there'll be something to do for everybody - which is a crucial part of planning any family trip.

You'll definitely want to visit the famous Florida Mall, which is distinctive for being just a single story high. This means that it encompasses nearly 2 million square feet of space and is packed with over 250 individual stores, seven massive department stores and an impressive array of amenities.

Once you're through with the Florida Mall, the Orlando Fashion Square offers a cultural trip to Downtown Orlando and the kids will be entertained by the 14 screen cinema while you enjoy four department stores and myriad chain developments, all contained in one shopper's paradise. You can also visit the Mall at Millenia, an upscale shopping mall where you can visit the very best in department stores - Macy's, Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus. This particular mall is very popular with locals and offers a diverse range of quality and fashionable stores.

All that shopping without taking a break can be rough though, which is yet another reason why Orlando is a wonderful shopping destination. After all, with the beach on hand at all times offering glorious sunshine whilst you relax and the kids build sandcastles, you'll get to enjoy getting your energy back up in style, as well as having the opportunity to spend some quality time with your family.

After the beach, maybe they'll want to show you their favourite rides at Universal Studios - which is a thrilling experience for all types - before it's time to enjoy dinner in a magnificent Orlando restaurant and enjoy a great night's sleep in hotels in Orlando.

Just make sure you don't stay up too late - after all, you'll be getting up early in the morning to get out there and explore all those other shopping opportunities Orlando has to offer!
