Football fans battle in out on the Golf Course

Supporters from around the UK go head to head to become 'Golf Champions of Football 2010'

A nationwide golf challenge is calling on all football fans to dust down their irons and woods to compete in the first annual 'Golf Champions of Football' tournament. Teeing off May 2010 golfing football fans are invited to head for the Algarve, Portugal for the three stage event. Each team of four will be entered to play in one of three group stages to play alongside fellow supporters from around the country. Winning teams from each stage are awarded prizes with the team with overall points lead crowned Champions. Darryl Kenyon of DK Events, hosts of the tournament said 'In the world of Football we're always hearing about the 'Big Four' dominating the premier league. We want to democratise football by giving supporters from all teams the chance to earn some silverware and grab the headlines.' Mr Kenyon also added: 'That's why we are looking for golfers from around the UK to compete to become the 'Big Four' and be crowned 'Golf Champions of Football'. Giving an indication of the expected standard of play and competition between the teams Mr Kenyon joked: 'The Algarve is home to some of Europe's finest golf courses, many par 5 holes exceeding 500 metres - players will certainly need to hit a 'big four' or two to get ahead on these courses'. 'Golf Champions of Football' can accommodate 92 four man teams which will be entered into the tournament on one of our three event dates:

All team players in the four ball must be fans/supporters of the club that they nominate.

Tuesday 25th May to Friday 28th May 2010
Tuesday 1st June to Friday 4th June 2010
Saturday 5th June to Tuesday 8th June 2010

Players can choose which date would suit them on a first come first allotted basis.
