Most people look for some sort of indicator letting them know you are open before they choose to stop. An open sign is the indicator they are looking for. If they don't see it they won't stop. Just think about it. How many times have you drove into a businesses parking lot just looking for an open sign? I you didn't see it you drove off.
People don't like playing the guessing game. Sometimes it is very hard to tell if a business is open or closed. Don't make your customers guess. Another sign I think every new business needs is a sidewalk sign. Place this sign in front of your store and watch your traffic increase. People love great deals. Put one on your sign and people will come in to take advantage of it.
I can't stress enough the importance of having some sort of signange in front of your business. I guess I will just put it like this, if you want more customers, invest in a sign.
